MUST KNOW TIPS TO HELP YOU PREPARE FOR A TATTOO APPOINTMENT

MUST KNOW TIPS TO HELP YOU PREPARE FOR A TATTOO APPOINTMENT

Tattoos are for life and not only is it important to take good aftercare of your tattoos, but also when you are preparing for an appointment. The night before your tattoo session is an exciting time, whether it's your very first or hundredth tattoo, there are some steps that can be taken before your appointment to ensure that you and your artist have the best experience possible.

To make the process easier for you, we’ve put together some of the most important steps to take leading up to your appointment so you know exactly what to do before getting a tattoo.

1. GET A GOOD NIGHT'S SLEEP

Getting a good night’s sleep will prepare your body (and your mind) for what’s in store. The last thing you want is to come in and feel completely exhausted for your tattoo session. Whilst getting tattooed you want to be able to read the signals your body is sending you and react accordingly. Being well rested will make you less twitchy, meaning the artist will be able to concentrate on getting the detail into your tattoos. We recommend getting an early night; you will definitely thank yourself for it during your session!

2. STAY HYDRATED

Before your appointment, you want to make sure that your body is hydrated. You should be drinking a lot of water 24 hours before your session. We recommend bringing a bottle of water with you to the appointment. It's also important to keep up your hydration as it will help immensely with the recovery and healing process. Being well hydrated means the skin takes ink much better than dehydrated skin, it will make the process a lot smoother and helps you heal quicker afterwards.

3. MOISTURISE YOUR SKIN

It’s important to note here that you shouldn’t be covering yourself with moisturiser on the day of your tattoo, but it's definitely a good idea to moisturise your skin a few days or weeks before you go to your appointment. Our tattoo moisturiser and vibrancy serum will work perfectly here, and you can continue to use this once your tattoo has healed!

4. EAT WELL AND BRING A SNACK

It's important to make sure you eat a balanced and healthy meal that will give you plenty of energy before your appointment. This will help you avoid getting lightheaded and reduce the risk of passing out from exhaustion.

5. WEAR THE RIGHT CLOTHING

Having optimal comfort should definitely be a top priority for your tattoo session. You’ll want to feel as relaxed as possible, so you don’t want to be wearing jeans or anything tight whilst getting tattooed. Think about where you're getting your tattoo, loose clothing will be the best as it will give your artist easy access to the area getting tattooed.

6. SHAVE THE AREA

It’s important to prepare your skin leading up to your tattoo. Not only is moisturising crucial, as mentioned above, but we also recommend shaving the area you're getting tattooed. This will make it a lot easier for your artist to work on the area and will save some time during the appointment.

Exfoliation is another aspect people often forget, our tattoo exfoliating body scrub is a must to be used alongside our tattoo moisturiser if you want to get your skin in the best condition possible. Remember not to use these on the day of your tattoo as it may interfere with the tattoo machine and needle.
